The Science

This Is About Science. And Intentional Choices.

Peer-reviewed studies have found measurable microplastics released from plastic materials exposed to hot liquids.

2004

the year scientists formally identified "microplastics" as an emerging environmental and health concern. Since then, universities including Stanford have expanded research into how plastics and microplastics move through ecosystems and the human body.

8M

microplastic particles per liter found in hot beverages in independent testing. Research shows heat and plastic contact can increase microplastic shedding into beverages.

1 Year

enough time for plastic coffee makers to accumulate oils, staining, and residue that can affect freshness and flavor. Plastic surfaces can retain coffee compounds and odors over time.

1,000s

of published studies now investigate plastics, microplastics, and potential health effects. Researchers continue studying links to inflammation, endocrine disruption, metabolism, fertility, and cardiovascular health.

Consumers are reconsidering what touches their coffee during brewing - and for good reason.

Built Different

Every Material Chosen With Intention

While other brands use food-grade plastic to cut costs, we re-engineered every contact point — from reservoir to carafe — to be completely plastic-free.

304 Stainless Steel

Used throughout the brew path where water travels during heating and brewing.

Stable under high temperatures, highly durable, and widely trusted in premium culinary equipment.

Why it’s better:

* Non-reactive under brewing temperatures
* Does not absorb coffee oils, odors, or stale flavors
* Resistant to staining, corrosion, and buildup over time
* Smooth, non-porous surface helps support cleaner brewing

Result: Clean water. Pure coffee flavor. Long-term durability. Easy to clean.

Brew Path

Borosilicate Glass

Used where water and brewed coffee are held throughout the brewing process.

A high-temperature glass commonly used in laboratory and premium culinary applications because of its purity and thermal stability.

Why it’s better:

* Non-porous and flavor-neutral
* Does not retain old coffee oils or odors
* Resistant to heat stress and staining
* Designed to preserve the natural flavor of coffee

Result: Fresh, consistent coffee flavor - cup after cup. Easy to clean.

RESERVOIR & CARAFE

Medical-Grade Silicone

Used only where flexibility, sealing, or movement are required between rigid components.

Selected for durability, heat stability, and performance in demanding applications.

Why it’s better:

* Non-petroleum, made from sand and oxygen - non-plastic
* Highly stable under heat and pressure
* Resistant to odor, residue, and degradation
* Used minimally and intentionally where rigid materials cannot perform (less than 1% of parts area)

Result: Reliable sealing and long-term performance and durability without plastic.

SMALL FITTINGS & CONNECTORS

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

* No plastic touching your water or coffee before, during and after brewing
* No aluminum in the brew path
* Materials selected for cleaner flavor and long-term durability
* A brewing experience designed around intentional choices and greater peace of mind

Because what touches your coffee… matters.

Turns out there's no tradeoff. Better materials delivers superior coffee flavor.

Clean Materials and Smoother Flavor

Our brewers are engineered for greater peace of mind and brewing performance. They deliver smooth, balanced, flavorful coffee at the touch of one button, all plastic-free.

Brew Path Materials
- The surfaces that touch your water and coffee during brewing:
- 304 stainless steel for 99% of the brew path
- Borosilicate glass reservoir and carafe. Cold water and hot coffee are held in glass
- Medical-grade silicone for little fittings requiring flexibility and sealing

Exterior Materials

Materials used outside the brew path are intentionally separated from all water and coffee contact while providing durability and insulation for everyday use. They are easy to clean and cold to the touch making them ideal for external parts.

Brewing Performance
Great coffee requires more than cleaner materials.
Proper brewing temperature (195-205F), bloom performance (CO2 expulsion), water distribution (large droplets not a drip or spray), and consistency all play a critical role in flavor. Our brewers are independently lab tested to meet all excellence in coffee brewing standards from SCA, ECBC to Gold Cup.

No plastic touches your water or coffee.
No compromises on flavor, either.
